Laredo, Texas

An avid golfer, beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend has gone to play in the most beautiful of golf course's in heaven. He will be greatly missed. Gavriel was born in Laredo, Texas, on February 9, 1968, the son of Mr. Roberto Hernandez Sr. and Juanita G. Hernandez. An avid sports fan, Gavriel started playing golf in the early 70's and continued his journey throughout his high school years. After graduation, he went to Texas State Technical College, where he earned his degree in Graphics Design. He made Laredo his home and is now at peace, free of all illness, worry, and pain.

He is preceded in death by his niece: Monica Lee Jimenez; paternal grandparents: Carmelo and Jesusita Hernandez; maternal grandparents: Eugenio and Aurora Garza; aunts and uncles: Eduardo Garza, Veronica Garza, Alma Garza, Hector (Martha) Hernandez, Carmen (Arturo) de la Fuente, Julian Juarez; cousin: David Juarez.

He is survived by his parents Roberto Hernandez Sr. and Juanita G. Hernandez; siblings: Elsa (Raul) Jimenez, Roberto Hernandez Jr.; sister-in-law: Yvette Mojica; nieces and nephews: Raul Jimenez Jr., Clarissa Michelle (Jerry Rangel) Jimenez, Roberto Diego Hernandez; grandnieces and grandnephews: Isaura Monica Jimenez, Mia Isela Jimenez, Delilah Rangel, Jerry Rangel Jr., Katalyna Lee Rangel; aunts and uncles: Olga Juarez, Gregorio Garza, Victor Garza, Maria Garza Panther, Veronica Garza Romero, and numerous cousins, other relatives and friends.

If do so wish, we invite you to write and your favorite memory, anecdote, or photo in his memory book that is available at the funeral home or below by leaving a condolence to the family. Gavy’s favorite color is maroon and those wishing to honor him are more than welcome to wear it for his mass and visitation.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at 9:30 am. Everyone is asked to meet at the church by 9:15 am.

Visitation will follow the mass at Hillside Funerals and Cremations, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.

A cremation will be held at a later date and interment and committal of the ashes will be held at Memorial Gardens of Laredo Cemetery on Hwy. 359 at a time to be announced.
