George Allen Newsome, 71, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, February 7, 2021, in Laredo, Texas.
Sylvia Villarreal Newsome, 71, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, January 6, 2021.
George Allen Newsome Sr. served for the United States Armed Forces and a Vietnam War Veteran. He served honorably and was awarded several medals for his bravery. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed the outdoors with a passion for fishing. Sylvia Villarreal Newsome was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She owned Gateway Hairstylist for thirty plus years. Through those years she was able to meet and develop wonderful friendships with everyone that entered her business. Both left a great mark in this world and will be missed by everyone they touched.
George Allen Newsome Sr. is preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia V. Newsome; parents, Frank M. and Enriqueta Newsome; siblings, Frank Newsome and Laura Newsome; and brother-in-law, Johnny Garza.
Sylvia Villarreal Newsome is preceded in death by her loving parents, Alejo and Eva B. Villarreal.
Left to cherish their memory are their children, George Allen (Nancy) Newsome Jr., Erica Jean Newsome (Abraham) Perez, and 8 grandchildren; his siblings, Linda Sue Newsome (Donald) Nagal, Jesse Thomas Newsome, Patricia Jean Newsome (Alfonso) Mendiola, John Albert (Ana) Newsome, James Edward (Maria) Newsome, Robert Lee Newsome, Mary Ann Newsome (Jesus) Rodriguez, and Daniel Clifford Newsome. She is also survived by her sisters, Natalia Villarreal Garza and Norma Villarreal (Javier) Saenz. Both are survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A rosary will be recited on Monday, February 15, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. at the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to Mother Cabrini Catholic Church. A mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m.
Interment will follow to the City of Laredo Cemetery Veterans Section.
Military Honors will be provided by the Fort Sam Houston Honor Guard and the American Legion Post 59 Honor Guard.
