Hector Ancira Peña, 95, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 20, 2018 in Temple, Texas, at the Texas State Veterans Home. He was born May 16, 1922 in rural Webb County. Hector served with distinction in WWII in the Pacific receiving numerous badges and the Purple Heart. He saw combat in Dutch New Guinea and the retaking of the Philippines, prior to his discharge. He is preceded in death by his wife of 44 years Rosa Maria Serrano Peña; oldest son, Hector Michael Peña; along with his second wife of 16 years, Leonor Serrano Gutierrez Peña. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will always be remembered by his family; children, Samuel A. (Cindy) Peña, Rose M. Peña (Lee) Storey. Along with grandchildren, Michael (Beckah) Peña, Angela Peña Shokouhi, Gabriel Peña, Theresa Peña (Dustin) Harbert, Olivia Peña, Ashley Storey, and John Michael Storey. He is also survived by seven great- grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. Prayers service will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. followed by a military funeral ceremony at the grave site. Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
