Mr. Hermilo Garcia Jr., 88, was called to the eternal paradise on May 4, 2024, in Laredo, Texas. He was born in Laredo, Texas on February 27, 1936. He grew up in Laredo and attended local public schools. In 1954, he joined the US Navy, where he served his country for four years. By trade, he was a Barber, having his shop behind his home. In his later years, he worked for SEAR's as a repair technician. Hermilo was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1129 and the 4th Degree Assembly 2304 for many years. Amongst his other civic engagements included being a part of the League of United Latin American Citizens Council #12. He was a hard worker until the end. He now rests and joins his beloved spouse and son.
He is preceded in death by his mother: Consuelo Tenorio, father: Hermilo Garcia, wife: Rosario D. Garcia; and son: Hermilo Garcia III.
Surviving him are his daughter: Michelle (Roberto Heredia) Garcia; granddaughter: Andrea Heredia; siblings: Jose Garcia, Isidro Garcia, Angel Garcia, Oscar Garcia, and Margarita Garcia as well as an extended family, nieces, nephews, and friends.
The Garcia family will receive condolences on Friday, May 10, 2024, from 5 to 9 pm at Hillside Funerals and Cremations. A Rosary will be offered at 7 pm.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, May 11, 2024, departing at 10:30 am from the funeral chapel to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 am.
Rite of Committal and Interment with Military Honors will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the US Navy Honor Detail and the Laredo Veterans Honor Guard.
