Homero Jimenez, 81, passed away on Wednesday, April 4th at a local hospital after a prolonged illness. Homero served four years in the U.S. Air Force with duty as an Airframe Mechanic. He was initially stationed at Luke Air Force Base in Phoenix, Arizona. His last day duty station was Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin. After leaving active duty he worked many years at the Base Commissary in the old Laredo Air Force Base. He enjoyed working and hunting at his ranch in Zapata County close to the Rio Grande where he was always accompanied by his beloved dog “Pee Wee”. He left us in a hurry because God had reserved a better place for him. He will be sorely missed and he left us many wonderful memories. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benito Jimenez and Maria Garza Jimenez. Mr. Jimenez is survived by his brother, Humberto (Aura) Jimenez; sister, Herminia (Cesar) Molina; nephews, Cesar (Carolann) Molina Jr. from The Colony, Texas, Carlos Molina from Laredo, Texas, and David (Melissa) Jimenez from Houston, Texas; nieces, Annie Molina from Austin, Texas, and Maritza Nestel from San Antonio, Texas. He is also survived by other cousins and closed relatives.A chapel service will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will begin at 8:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Veteran Section of the City of Laredo Cemetery. The Family wishes to thank Wenceslado Medina, Homero’s caregiver who provided transportation and nursing services for the past 4 years, “Wences” also made all sorts of repairs around the house.
