Irene Litman Sanchez, a life-long resident of Laredo, Texas, entered into her eternal rest on June 26, 2023 at the age of 70. She was a retired teacher, who devoted 38 years of her life to educating children at Bruni Elementary. Born January 25, 1953, she was the daughter of the late John and Sara Litman.
Irene graduated from Nixon High School in 1971. She enrolled at Texas A&M International University, where she majored in Elementary Education. Her Passion allowed her to discover her lifelong mission of seeking the best strategies to reach the most challenging students. She “believed that every child deserved a champion-adult who would never give up on them, that understood the power of connection and insisted that they become the best that they could possibly be.” Irene was the Champion for all of her students.
Irene will be greatly missed while remembered as a generous spirit always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed it. It is this quality that made her be loved by so many. She was a caring, loyal, strong, and most selfless woman. “Her sons were her world; She put them first and loved them unconditionally.”
At home, she enjoyed working on her garden, caring for her plants just as she cared for students. She was an incredible mother, daughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend. For her community, Irene dedicated much of her free time in service to the Lord. She was a Religious Education School Teacher at St John Neumann Catholic Church for many years. Irene was a bright star in her Family’s lives that will never fade.
Irene is survived by her 3 loving sons, Beau Joel Sanchez, John Justin Sanchez, J. Albert (Christina) Sanchez and granddaughter, Oliva Grace Sanchez, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Her brothers, John, (Rosie) Litman, Andy (Denae) Litman, and Ray (Becky) Litman.
