On Thursday, March 8, 2018, Irma Nava Andrews, wife, mother, daughter and sister, passed away at the age of 83 years to join our Lord. Irma was born in Laredo, Texas on July 6, 1934. She was a parishioner a St. Patrick Catholic Church, where she attended until she was no longer able to. Irma attended San Agustin High School where she was the Valedictorian of her class; she then attended Texas Women University at Denton, graduated with a degree in Education and worked as a teacher before earning a Master’s Degree at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio and becoming a Librarian. She worked at Bruni Elementary School for over 40 years. Mrs. Andrews was preceded in death by her husband, George Andrews Sr.; parents, Isidoro Nava and Lamar Lopez Nava; brother-in-law, John David Staben Sr. She is survived by her beloved children: George (Carolyn) Andrews Jr., Richard (Sandi) Andrews, Melissa (Arthur) Zuniga, and Judy Andrews. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren, Katie, Brendan, Laurel, Caroline, Kendall Andrews, Brianna, Zachary, Nathan, Lindsey, Callie Zuniga and Samantha Amaya; siblings, Arturo (Nancy) Nava, Judy Staben, and Hector (Belinda) Nava. Mrs. Andrews is also survived by nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends. A Rosary will be recited on Friday, March 16, at 7:00 p.m. at Hillside Funeral Home, 310 Hillside Road, Laredo. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to St. Patrick Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Rites of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
