Jesus F. Rodriguez went to be with the Lord and his beloved wife Magdalena on Friday, November 16, 2018, at the age of 77 as he was surrounded by family at Audie L. Murphy Memorial Veterans Hospital in San Antonio Texas. Jesus was born on September 20, 1941, attended Martin High School and went on to enlist and serve in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Upon leaving the Navy Jesus worked for Mercy Hospital of Laredo and eventually retired after 30 years of service. Mr. Rodriguez is preceded in death by his wife Magdalena S. Rodriguez; parents, Sixto and Maria Luisa Rodriguez; brothers, Sixto Rodriguez, Rodolfo Rodriguez, and sister, Alicia Iruegas. He is survived by his children, Thelma (Adan) Gaytan and David J. Rodriguez, as well as his beloved granddaughter, Dharma Dawn Rodriguez. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters; Roberto (Socorro +) Rodriguez, Dorotea (Antonio) Moctezuma, Jose Luis (Aurora) Rodriguez, Teresa (Mario +) Gloria, Hector (Isabel) Rodriguez, and Dolores (Richard +) Camacho. Mr. Rodriguez is also survived by other numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to give thanks to the entire Critical Care Team led by Dr. Stephanie Levine at Audie Murphy VA Hospital, for their relentless efforts but most importantly, we are eternally grateful to nurses Susan, Shawn, and C. J., for providing exceptional care and for being with us every step of the way during this difficult time. A rosary will be held on Monday, November 19, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to San Martin de Porres Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Military Honors will be conducted by the Navy Honor Guard and American Legion Post 59. Interment will follow to the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
