Jose Roberto Gutierrez

Jose Roberto Gutierrez, 102, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, February 17, 2018 in Laredo, Texas. He was born in Eagle Pass, Texas on March 6, 1915. Mr. Gutierrez is a WW II Veteran who served in the US Army from 1942 to 1945. After the war he got his degree in business. He worked at the Laredo Air Force Base from 1960 to 1976. Mr. Gutierrez retired from the City of Laredo where he was an accountant from 1978 to 1985. Mr. Gutierrez is preceded in death by his wife, Diamantina V. Gutierrez; parents, Santiago Gutierrez and Josefa Gutierrez; siblings, Sinecio Gutierrez, Lilia Gutierrez, Santiago Gutierrez, and Ana Maria Serrano; in-laws, Zeferino Vela and Diana Vela; son-in-law, Amador Escudero. He is survived by his children, Juanita Diana (Amador+) Escudero, Juan Roberto (Marylou) Gutierrez, Norma Alicia (Fernando) Guerra, and Maria Eugenia (Jesus) Perez.  Mr. Gutierrez is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 13 great- grandchildren, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 departing at 8:30 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. A mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Military Honors provided by the Fort Sam Houston Honor Guard and American Legion Post 59 Honor Guard.
