Jose Manuel Ruiz, Jr., 62, entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 9, 2021, in San Antonio, Texas.
Born May 27, 1959, to the late Jose M. Ruiz, Sr., and Beatriz Ruiz Villarreal. Pepe, as known to many, attended Ms. Young’s Private School, St. Peter’s School, Missouri Military Academy, and St. Agustin Ursuline.
Mr. Ruiz proudly served his community and county for 29 years since 1992. He served under Constable Albino Walker, Constable Raul Hinojosa then joined the County Attorney’s Office under County Attorney Homero Ramirez, County Attorney Ana Laura Ramirez, County Attorney Marco Montemayor, and finally under Constable Devally as a Captain.
Mr. Ruiz is preceded in death by his parents, Jose M. Ruiz, Sr. and Beatriz Ruiz Villarreal; aunts, Rosario Ruiz and Lilia (Humberto) Vasquez; uncles, Raul Villarreal, Jr., and Jorge Esparza.
Left to cherish his memory is his brother, David (Lorena)Ruiz; nieces, Betty Thibeault, Vanessa Ruiz, and Amy Ruiz; aunts and uncles, Polo Ruiz Jr. and family, Josie Rendon Ruiz and family, Dina Sanchez and family, Ruth De Luna and family, Guillermo (Rosy) Villarreal and family, Mike (Victoria) Villarreal and family, family of Lilia Vasquez, and family of Raul Villarreal Jr.
Pepe will be greatly missed by all of his close friends.
A rosary will be officiated by Msgr. Harris on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at 7:30 p.m. at the Hillside Funeral Home chapel. Private family visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and public visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 15, 2021, at 8:30 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where a mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. by Msgr. Harris.
Pallbearers will be Rolando Garza, Ernesto R. Cavazos, Reynaldo “Rey” Ortegon, Ruben Tenorio Sr., Edward “Wayo” Ruiz, Cesar Gonzalez, Gerardo Ramirez, and Juan Polo Ruiz.
The honorary pallbearer will be David Ruiz.
Special thank you to all the agencies and friends that helped out during this difficult time. A very special thank you to Texas State Representative, Richard Peña Raymond for sending the Texas Flag that was flown at the State Capital.
Interment of ashes will take place at a later date.
