Josefina “ Josie” A. Carrillo entered into the loving presence of God in his Heavenly Kingdom on November 10, 2022 at the age of 86.
She was born August 17, 1936 in Three Rivers to Felix Hidalgo Alvarez Sr. and Lorenza Muñoz Alvarez. She was a wonderful, caring, and strong person. She was happily married to Arnulfo V. Carrillo up until his death in 2010, after celebrating their 56th Anniversary. Josie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her biggest love of all were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always at school participating as a RoomMom, Brownie and Girl Scout Leader. She and Arnulfo loved to volunteer/donate in the community if it was a School Bonanza, Plate Sale or Church Jamaica. Josie enjoyed meeting new friends while selling AVON and Stanley or from Sears where she retired from. She loved Bowling Monday, Wednesday, Thursday or the Traveling League or a State/InterNational Bowling Tournaments. She was a Champion Bowler which later her youngest daughter continued the tradition. She enjoyed Life to the fullest by traveling with her friends once a month but really loved her Family Vacations. Josie was well known for her Famous Tamales and reposteria. She loved having friends and family over for parties, or special occasions including Poker Night. She was loved by all, as some would say she was a Special Lady. Her eyes would light up just talking about her children and grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Arnulfo V. Carrillo; Parents Felix Hidalgo Alvarez Sr. and Lorenza Muñoz Alvarez; Her siblings Aurelia A. Mata, Amalia A. Gatica, Theresa A. Lopez and Luis M. Alvarez; Her in laws Guadalupe Carrillo and Nicolasa Vasquez Carrillo; sister in law Margarita Rodriguez; brother in laws Leo Carrillo and Carlos Carrillo all from San Antonio.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren: AnnaMarie (Paul) Macias, son-Erik Lucas Carrillo-Samora his children Audrey and Andy Samora from San Antonio; Johnny (Clemencia), children Amanda Sofia and Joaquin Andres Carrillo from SugarLand; Graciela “Gracie” Carrillo & son Juan Diego Misael Guerrero from Laredo and Elizabeth P. Carrillo “Liza” from Laredo. She is survived by Arrnulfo’s children Estela (Jack) Foster: Steven and Michael Foster and their families, Arnulfo Carrillo Jr.(Yolanda) his children Christopher, Melanie and Nicolas and their families and Christine (Ed) Padilla: her daughter Juliet and her family. She is also survived by her Siblings: Julian M. Alvarez Sr.(Alice), Felix M. Alvarez Jr.(Helena), Olga A.(Manuel Montemayor+) Dolores A.(Raul Valdez) and numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives, friends, and Team Mates.

The family would like to express their most sincere gratitude to caregiver Ma Lourdes “Lulu” Gutierrez; Drs.and staff of Dr. Carlos Espinoza, Dr. Fernando Sanchez, Drs. Jorge and Eduardo Gomez-Vasquez, Dr. Amador Flores and Dr. Alfredo Camero; the staff on the Second Floor C/D at Laredo Medical Center, First Aid Home Care, Star Ambulance Service, Superior Nursing Care, and Bronze Star Ambulance Service.
Guests are encouraged to attend the Memorial Mass which will be celebrated on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 102 W. Hillside Rd. Laredo, TX 78041
All services will conclude at the end of the mass.
