Maria Cruz Guerra

Into the arms of our Heavenly Father entered Mrs. Maria Cruz Guerra, at the age of 96, on September 20, 2024. She was born in Rodriguez, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, on May 23, 1928, the daughter of the late Jose M. Flores and Aurelia Cruz.

Mrs. Guerra "Ama", was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 70 years of marriage: Alfredo Guerra; parents: Jose and Aurelia Flores; parents-in-law: Arnold and Teofila Broussard; sisters: Josefina Flores and Gloria Ortega.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her children: Joe Flores, Maria Magdalena (Jorge) Martinez, Gloria (Roberto+) Santa Cruz, Graciela (Mario) Serna; siblings: Maria Garcia and Rosa Narro; sister-in-law: Aurora B. Gonzalez and brother-in-law: Robert (Diana) Broussard; 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive condolences on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, from 5 to 9 pm at Hillside Funerals & Cremations, where a Rosary will be recited at 7 pm.

A funeral procession will depart the funeral chapel at 9:30 am on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am. 

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Laredo City Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with her beloved Alfredo.

Mrs. Guerra's family would like to extend a special Thank You to all the staff of Bee First Primary Home Care, Altus Hospice Staff, for all their care and attention provided to Ama.

Pallbearers will be: Joe Flores, Jorge Martinez, Jr., Abel Martinez, Roberto Santa Cruz III, Rolando Santa Cruz, and Christian Santa Cruz.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Brandy Santa Cruz, Brandon Santa Cruz, Rolando Santa Cruz, Jr., Luis Javier Santa Cruz, Jose Angel Mata, and Armando Mata.
