Maria Rosa Hernandez

Our beloved Maria Rosa Hernandez, 90, was welcomed into the gates of heaven on November 21, 2024, in Laredo, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her husband: Antonio Hernandez, Jr.; sons: Antonio Hernandez III and Carlos Ivan (Dianira) Hernandez; parents: Santiago and Isabel Zamarripa; siblings: Maria Concepcion Castillo, Maria Ines Martinez, Aurelio Zamarripa, and Rafael Zamarripa.

Rosa was a longtime educator for LISD and UISD public schools. She was a devoted catholic member of the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters: Rosa Canales, Dr. Ellie (Deena Gonzalez) Hernandez, Norma (Alberto) Sandoval, Claudia (Rick) Reyes; daughter-in-law: Randi Hernandez; sisters and brother-in-law: Gloria Benavides (Jesus+), Alicia Gonzalez (Javier+), Ofelia Juarez (Amador+) and Jose Fidel Hernandez (Trine) grandchildren: 10 and great-grandchildren: 10; brother: Francisco (Elena) Zamarripa, and sister-in-law: Mary Zamarripa as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

We gratefully acknowledge her hospice care team, Vara Hospice, her loving nurses Angel and Cruz, her longtime caregivers Gabina and Vero, and her precious dogs that never left her side, Junior and Pita.

The family will receive condolences on Friday, November 29, 2024, from 5 to 9 pm at Hillside Funerals & Cremations, where a Rosary will be offered for the repose of her soul at 7 pm.

Funeral procession will depart the funeral chapel at 10:30 am on Saturday, November 30, 2024 to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am.

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the San Agustin Garden at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
