Maria Lily Wright, affectionately known as Lily, age 89, was peacefully called to her eternal resting place in the arms of Jesus on June 9, 2024 in New Braunfels, Texas. Born in Laredo, TX on December 9, 1934 to E.G. (Tacho) Salinas and Lilia Ramos Salinas, Lily was married to Col. Paul J Wright, Jr. (dec.) of Dawson, Alabama.
A graduate of Martin High School she traveled the world to various Air Force bases with her husband, Buddy. She later pursued a career as a U.S. Customs agent stationed in Laredo, Del Rio and Houston. After retirement she moved to Bulverde and discovered a new career and passion as a legal secretary, working under the watchful eye of Bulverde attorney, Larry Shallcross, for twenty years.
Memories of Lily will always include her gracious and warm hospitality, her lifelong interest in reading, editing, genealogy, crossword puzzles and Mah Jong.
Lily is survived by her son James Michael (Linda) Wright; son Steven Paul Wright; daughter Shawn Langford (Eddie); daughter Lisa Reddam (Pete, dec); daughter Debbie Swisher (James); sister Norma Hagy (Carl, dec); sister Diana Farias (Hector); sister Alice Reed (Perry), and brother Manuel G. Salinas (Norma, dec).
Lily never met a stranger. To know her was to love her. This great legacy of love extended to her family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as to her much loved nieces and nephews.
Visitation services to honor and celebrate her life will be held Saturday, June 15, from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Hillside Funeral Home (310 West Hillside Rd) in Laredo. A prayer service officiated by Pastor Pieter van Dyk will begin at 10:30 a.m.
Interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery where Lily will be laid to rest next to her beloved parents.
Pallbearers are Mike Wright, Steve Wright, Eddie Langford, James Swisher, Joshua Langford, Jesse Reddam and Damon Swisher.
