Maria Santos Munoz

Maria Santos Muñoz peacefully passed away surrounded by family on Monday, March 12th, 2018 in Laredo Texas.  She was 85 years old.She will always be remembered for her loving ways and generous spirit. She loved playing poker with her friends every Wednesday night. She enjoyed being outside in her yard, planting plants and enjoying her beautiful blooms and her loving puppies.  She was well known for her hospitality and her world famous hamburgers served at the former Santa Maria Party House.  She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 53 years, Horacio H. Muñoz.It would be a fault to underestimate how much her parent's Don Alfredo Santos and Doña Maria Santos Salinas impacted her life.  Their loving ways, guidance, and examples helped form the wonderful person she was.She is survived by her children Horace H. Muñoz Jr., H Luis Muñoz, Homer (Shanan) Muñoz, Hugo D. (Lulu) Muñoz, Anita (Clifford) Dilley, and H. Oscar Muñoz; grandsons, Horacio H. (Josephina) Muñoz III, Matthew (Taylor) Muñoz, Luke Muñoz, Daniel Muñoz, David Muñoz, Hugo D. (Sasha) Muñoz Jr., Carlos Muñoz, and Marco Muñoz. Mrs. Muñoz is also survived by her great-granddaughter, Violet Marie Muñoz, who was named after her great grandmother.A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 15 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church, 3018 Davis Ave. everyone wishing to attend mass is asked to meet at the Church. Services will conclude at the Church.  Those wishing to pay their respects to the family, are invited to Casa Santos from 12 pm to 5 pm.Pallbearers will be her grandsons, whom she was so proud of.  They are Horacio H. Muñoz III, Matthew Muñoz, Luke Muñoz, Hugo D. Muñoz Jr, Carlos Muñoz and Marco Muñoz.  Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Muñoz, and David Muñoz.The family would like to take this opportunity to thank all the medical professionals that cared for our mother; Dr. Carlos Canova,  the Doctors, Nurses, and Staff of Doctor's Hospital, Laredo Specialty Hospital,  Laredo Nursing and Rehabilitation, and Care Guardian Home Health Care.In lieu of flowers, Maria would have preferred donations be made in her honor to St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church, 3018 Davis Ave., Laredo, Tx 78040.If you would like to sign the guestbook or send private condolences, you may do so at www.hillsidefuneral.com Arrangements are under the direction of Hillside Funeral Home, 310 Hillside Road.
