Mr. Martin Barrera III, 81, entered into eternal rest on April 24, 2024 in Laredo, Texas. He was born in Laredo, Texas on September 21, 1942. He grew up in Laredo, Texas and then continued to serve his country in the US Army from 1965-1968 in Berlin, Germany. He returned to the United States and settled in Los Angeles, California, having landed a job as their Cultural Arts Director. He retired and moved to Laredo, his hometown, where he has resided until his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Martin Barrera Jr. and Julia Guadalupe Lozano de Barrera; several aunts and uncles.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his spouse: Olga Barrera; a great number of cousins and an extended group of friends.
The family will gather to celebrate his life on Friday, April 26, 2024, from 5 to 9 pm at Hillside Funerals & Cremations, where a Rosary will be offered at 7 pm.
A funeral service will be held in the funeral chapel at 9 am on Saturday, April 27, 2024.
Military Honors will be provided at 11 am at the Laredo City Cemetery-Veteran's Columbarium. The procession will depart the funeral chapel at 10:30 am.
Private Interment will be held at a later date.
