She studied education, receiving her Bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas at Austin and her Master’s Degree from Our Lady of the Lake University. After teaching Special Education in San Antonio for several years, she retired from the classroom in 1979 to raise her twins Homero and Cecilia. She and her husband welcomed their third child, Christina in 1983. Mary Esther was a devoted wife and mother and was very involved with her children’s school and extra-curricular activities, being sure to instill in them the importance of education and an appreciation for the arts. When she wasn’t busy with her children, she helped manage her husband’s medical practice. She was also a faithful Catholic and loving woman who devoted much of her time to the Church, her community and to her friends and family. In recent years, she welcomed her grandchildren Christian, Charlotte and Benicio, whom she loved to spoil and proudly talk about. She never left out or forgot her fur grandbabies, Lila and Ollie, whom she also loved dearly. Mary Esther was a gentle, compassionate woman who loved unconditionally and gave without the expectation of receiving anything in return.
