Our beloved Ramona G. Hernandez, 96, has joined the company of the heavenly choirs on December 11, 2024. Born on July 18, 1928, in St. Paul, Minnesota, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfonso and Guadalupe Gutierrez. A proud child of hardworking migrant workers, Ramona moved to Laredo at an early age. In February of 1953, she married the love of her life, Valeriano Hernandez, whom she now joins in Heaven. Her memory forever shall be cherished, as her lifelong commitment to her faith, family will be continued in her family for generations to come.
She is also preceded in death by her parents: Alfonso and Guadalupe Gutierrez; siblings: Juana Gutierrez, Alfonso Gutierrez Jr., Juan Gutierrez, Pablo Gutierrez, Jose Gutierrez, Socorro Villa.
Left behind to cherish and honor her memory are her children: San Juanita (Alberto) San Miguel Jr., Valeriano (Cynthia) Hernandez Jr., Sylvia (Eleazar) Ramos, Ernestina (Miguel) Trevino, Matilde (Arnulfo Sr.) Trevino; grandchildren: Alberto San Miguel III, Priscilla (Francisco Perez) San Miguel, Myra (Jarmarcus Williams) San Miguel, Valeriano (Miriam) Hernandez III, Marco Antonio Hernandez, Ismael (Lily) Hernandez, Eleazar Ramos Jr., Rolando Ramos, Laura (Annacani) Ramos, Arnulfo Jr. (Aldo) Mena-Trevino, Emmanuel (Elizabeth) Trevino, Abraham Mena and Alejandra Mena; great-grandchildren: Ashley and Carolina San Miguel, Emma and Madison Perez, Valerie and Valeriano IV, and Vince Hernandez, Marco K. Hernandez, Matthew and Andrew Hernandez, Eleazar III, Adrian, Krystal, Rolando Jr., and Mila Ramos, Emily and Elisa Trevino; great-grandchildren: Victor Daniel Castillo, Miles and Deion Cantu, Ethan Ramos, cousin: Maria Elena Hernandez, siblings: Susana Gutierrez, Maria Antonia Gutierrez, Guadalupe Gutierrez, and Esperanza Gutierrez, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
We wish to express our gratitude to Martinez Pharmacy and Dr. Jose R. Garcia, long time health care providers, not only for their service, but attention and friendship given to our mother.
The family will gather on Friday, December 13, 2024, from 5 to 9 pm at Hillside Funerals and Cremations, where a Rosary will be offered for the eternal repose of her soul at 7 in the evening.
Visitation will continue on Saturday, December 14, 2024, from 7 to 10 am at the funeral home. The funeral procession will depart the funeral chapel at 10 am to San Luis Rey Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am.
The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, Valeriano.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Alberto San Miguel III, Eleazar Ramos Jr., Valeriano Hernandez III, Rolando Ramos Jr., Marco K. Hernandez, Arnulfo Trevino Jr., Emmanuel Trevino, and Ismael Hernandez.
