It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Ramona “Mona” Marie Moore Hachar, who peacefully departed this world on January 14, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond T. and Adelaida Moore, and her brothers, Joe (Norma) Moore and Raymond Moore Jr.
Mona was a remarkable woman—self-reliant, independent, and deeply devoted to her family. She spent over 35 years in the retail industry, where her entrepreneurial spirit thrived. Mona owned and operated a jewelry business and made prudent real estate investments in her hometown of Laredo, Texas. Her ability to adapt, seize opportunities, and remain graceful under pressure defined her character.
As a mother of five, Mona skillfully balanced the demands of raising her 5 children with running a successful business. She was a loving, organized, and nurturing figure who created a close-knit family. Family vacations were often accompanied by her mantra: “Travel now while you still can.” This reminder led to countless unforgettable trips with our dear mother. She enjoyed her children’s company regardless of the setting or destination. When traveling Mona was known for her aversion to the sun and cold water—a lighthearted trait her children fondly remember.
Mona had many passions included reading, birdwatching, and playing cards while socializing with her wide circle of friends. Every visit with Mona involved sharing desserts and coffee while engaging in lively conversation. Her love for history and period films was ever-present, and she treasured the phone calls and photos she received from family and friends. Whether for business or pleasure, Mona always made time for others, asking “How is business?” to make everyone feel valued and heard.
Impeccably stylish, Mona took great care in her appearance, exuding elegance and grace. Through all her accomplishments, this distinguished woman and caring mother remained a pillar of strength and beauty, deeply devoted to her family, friends, and the Laredo community. Her legacy of love, wisdom, and resilience will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Beneath her glimmering exterior, Mona was her father’s daughter—a small-town girl from a bustling Texas border town. In her later years, she found joy in driving through downtown Laredo with her admiring sister Rosemary, revisiting cherished memories of the past. To the end of her days, Mona lovingly referred to her father as “Daddy.”
We take great comfort in knowing that Mona is now reunited with her loving parents and two brothers.
Mona is lovingly survived by her children: George L. (Elvita) Hachar, Edward (Stephanie) Hachar, Robert D. (Jenniffer) Hachar, Richard M. Hachar, and Christine (Enrique) Saldaña; her sister, Rosemary Lopez; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
