Raquel S. Alvarez Raquel S. Alvarez, 91, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 in Laredo, Texas. Mrs. Alvarez is preceded in death by her husband, Jose Oscar Alvarez; parents, parents in-law, 7 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children, Gretel (Roberto) Garza Gongora, Jose Oscar (Cristina) Alvarez Jr., Sergio (Lolly) Alvarez, Eduardo (Anna Isabel) Alvarez; siblings, Angela Cepeda, Daniel Salinas, and Albina Sedas. Mrs. Alvarez is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. A vigil will be held on Monday, March 12, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at 8:45 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to St. John Neumann Catholic Church. A mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at the mausoleum of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to St. John Neumann Catholic Church remodeling fund, 102 Hillside Road, Laredo, Texas, 78041, in memory of Raquel S. Alvarez.
