Rolando "Roli" Solis

September 24, 1981 — July 15, 2018

Rolando “Roli” Solis, 36, passed away unexpectedly the morning of July 15, 2018 from injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident. He was born in Laredo, Texas and a lifelong resident. Roli had a 16-year career with the Laredo Fire Department as a firefighter. During those years Roli made such a strong impact in the department as well as the Laredo Firefighters Association. Roli worked for 9 years on the board as Secretary of Union Local 872 and became their Union President on December 2017. He worked in coordination with the Local 872, Texas State Association of Firefighters (TSAFF) and the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) to fight and support legislation that affected Firefighters. Roli was also president of his motorcycle club RPM. He enjoyed riding his bike and also working on his 1949 Ford at Victor’s Shop. Roli always went out of his way to help anyone and everyone especially making everyone laugh with his jokes “The Chancla Life.” Roli’s memories will forever be held by those who knew him best. Till we meet again Roli “Boom Boom.” Roli is survived by his parents Raul Solis Jr., Maria Lamar Martinez Solis; siblings, Raul Solis III, Rogelio (Cristy) Solis, Cordelia Solis; nephews, Isaiah Solis, Raul Solis IV, Samantha Solis, Brenda M. Perez (Raul and Samantha’s mother). His girlfriend of 7 years Leticia “Letty” Lopez, future sister-in-law, Monica Cabello along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives and friends. A firefighter ceremony and  rosary will be recited on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sames Auto Arena. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 20, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Everyone wishing to attend is asked to meet at the church. Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. The Family would especially like to thank the Laredo Fire Department, Laredo Firefighters Association, Laredo Police Department and the numerous organizations that came forward to help us during this difficult time.
