Salvador Sciaraffa

On November 20, 2024, God called our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Salvador Sciaraffa, to his eternal rest. 

He is preceded in death by his parents: Luis Sciaraffa and Hilaria Sciaraffa; siblings: Hortencia Sciaraffa, Aracely Bueno, Maria Luisa Tays, Luis Sciaraffa Jr. America Ramos, Dalia Evans, & Guillermo Tays. Daughter in law: Francisca Sciaraffa & great-granddaughter Isabella Sciaraffa.

Salvador Sciaraffa was drafted into the US Army Military Basic Training 1st Armored Division in 1952 while in basic training, he was assigned to the 7th Infantry Division & 17th Tank Regiment. 

In 1953, he was sent to the Korean Conflict Pork Chop Hill where he drove the M113 Armored Personnel Carrier & M4 Sherman Tank. He served in the Texas Army Reserve & retired in 1994 from the Texas Army National Guard. From 1964 to 1994, he worked for The City of Laredo Traffic Safety Department.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 68 years of marriage: Rosa Alicia Juarez Sciaraffa; Children: Salvador Sciaraffa Jr., Victor (Francisca+) Sciaraffa, & Diana Sciaraffa, 10 grandchildren & 16 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive condolences on November 24, 2024, from 5 to 9 pm at Hillside Funerals & Cremations, where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will be held at 7 pm.

A procession will follow at 10:30 am on Monday November 25, 2024 from Hillside Funeral Home where a Mass of Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church at 11:00 am.

Rite of Committal and Interment with Military Honors will follow at the Laredo City Cemetery by the Laredo Veterans Honor Guard and the Fort Sam Houston Honor Detail.

Pallbearers will be: Sal Sciaraffa III, Ramon Sciaraffa, Victor Sciaraffa, Victor Sciaraffa Jr., Oscar Sciaraffa, Frank Sciaraffa, Rudy Hinojosa, & Lee Lugo.

Honorary Pallbearers: Agustin Magallanes and Ramon Sciaraffa.
