Thelma Sofia Rodriguez

Thelma Sofia Rodriguez, born Feb. 10, 1942, peacefully passed on, March 15, 2022, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family and friends.

She was a devoted mother to her three daughters and 5 grandchildren.  Thelma was a mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, and friend to so many.  She was a nurse who was compassionate and understanding, had the skill and tenderness to heal, gave comfort, empathy, and strength for selfless service to care for those that she was called to serve.  She truly enjoyed life and attending all sporting events.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Antonio Javier Rodriguez, her parents, Juan & Sofia Gonzalez, her siblings, Filemon (Laura) Gonzalez, Juan Antonio (Minerva) Gonzalez, Natalia Severina (Emilio) Zuniga, Ninfa Angelica (Rogelio) Garza, Carlos Gonzalez, Sergio Ramiro Gonzalez, Bertha Ramos, brother-in-law Raul Ortiz.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Gabriella (John W.) Johnson, Angelica (Alfredo III) Sanchez and Ana Laura (Pete Jr.) Solis; grandchildren Jonathan R. Johnson, Alfredo Sanchez IV, Lauren A. Johnson, Antonio J. Sanchez, and Derek J. Solis, siblings Elvia Ortiz, Ruben (Rosa Maria) Gonzalez, Jose Arturo (Sylvia) Gonzalez, Fernando Gonzalez, Edmundo (Rosalinda) Gonzalez, sister-in-law Patsy Rodriguez, Guadalupe Gonzalez, brother-in-law Joe Ramos, her pride and joy that never left her side, Sofie (her chihuahua), and many of the Gonzalez nieces and nephews.

The family would also like to offer their thanks to two wonderful ladies that gave their entire care and devotion to our mother, Sra. Concepcion (Conchis) and Sra. Martha.  Also, to her Primary Care Physician, Dr. Idelfonzo Flores, San Antonio Cardiologist and nephew, Dr. Mauro Ortiz, San Antonio Vascular Surgeon, Dr Boules Toursarkissian, San Antonio Oncologist Dr. Manuel Santiago, and the many nurses and health professionals who assisted with her care.

A rosary will be recited on Friday, March 18, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to San Martin de Porres Catholic Church.

Interment will follow to the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers are John W. Johnson, Jonathan R. Johnson, Alfredo Sanchez III, Alfredo Sanchez IV, Antonio J. Sanchez, Pete Solis Jr., Derek J. Solis and Michael Reyna.
